Toby started his equestrian career as a working pupil in a busy livery and training yard. Here he gained his BHS stages exams, as well as a thirst to learn more about horses and how to ride them!
Two years later, he moved just down the road, to work under successful show jumping rider/trainer Carmine Lanni. It was here that Toby learnt about correct basic training, as well as enjoying competitive success on young show jumpers.
After many years of being overworked and underpaid, Toby thought that it might be a good idea to get some more qualifications. In 1993 he passed his BHSII and completed his HND in business.
Toby decided to set up a yard of his own, taking in mainly young/difficult horses to train and compete, as well as teach a wide variety of clients in all disciplines. Desperate to event, he would take the ride on anything! His passion and determination took him up to advanced level.
Toby moved to the Cotswolds in the late 90's to be better located for eventing. He quickly built up a successful business and strong client base. An opportunity to ride for a supportive and enthusiastic owner meant a move to North Wiltshire. He produced some super young horses in a wonderful yard and had a very enjoyable 5 years. Over these years he also spent a lot of time training many riders of all abilities and developed a growing band of loyal clients.
A desire to work on his own again, and find new opportunities, meant Toby moved to his own yard and passed his BHSI. Having spent many hours talking to Claire (thanks to orange magic numbers!) about training, horses problems, etc., etc., it became clear that there was a real need for a company that was able to design, make, and fit saddles that really worked...... lo and behold - All Saddle Solutions!
